You may be wondering why anyone would want a camera on top of his or her remote controlled car. Well, according to the patent, “a user may control the car… so as to spy on their friends… then upload the stored video images to a website.”

Among other specifications, the car has the ability to create “augmented reality zones,” which are areas outlined with virtual markers that players physically place. If a car leaves the zones, it freezes, safely allowing one to build a racetrack near, say, a flight of stairs.

This is only a patent and most patents don’t see light, so don’t go planning any Christmas lists just yet. Still, it's definitely an interesting direction Sony could go with its PSP if they followed through.

We all have our own ways of dealing with cable management and some are more thorough than others. I haven’t always bothered with organizing my cables neatly, that is until I got a puppy. Now all of my cables are tucked as far out of his reach as I can manage. Well for those of you that prefer your cables nice and neat, there is Flexicord. It gives a new take as to how you can keep all those cables from turning into a tangled mess beneath your desk.

Flexicord has a thick pipe cleaner that sits alongside the cable, which makes it possible to bend the cord. That will give you a better way to tuck those cables into the shape you need. If you wanted to, you could even wrap this around a couple of other cables to help out the ones that do not have the pipe cleaner inside. Flexicord comes in several different types, to name a few, they offer USB, S-video, networking cables and HDMI. Of course, since these are special cords, they’ll cost a bit more than a normal cord would. Which brings up the debate, as to whether to pay the extra, or just keep utilizing twist ties and whatever else you can manage to find. These will cost you about $25 for most of the cords, but the longer 10-foot cables will range at about $34. There isn’t a ton of purchase info on their site just yet, but you can check it out and keep an eye on it if you’re really interested.

There have been a few different types of missile launchers, yet this one has the ability to chase down your co-workers and friends. The USB tank is controlled on your laptop or PC and from there you can steer as well as make it shoot at whichever target you like. The little pink missiles will be great to take out anyone causing trouble. You can even change the angle it shoots, for those times when your target is up high.

HP is right now enjoying its position as top dog of the computer industry, and the company has unveiled yet another desktop-based machine that will help cement its position even further - the Pavilion Elite m9600 series PC. Each purchase will be accompanied by a widescreen monitor, where the Pavilion Elite m9600 will deliver the speed, reliability and performance required for demanding multitasking in addition to handling graphic-intensive files and movies with aplomb.

With so many LCD monitors to choose from these days, what are some of the choices available to the common man? Well, Samsung has just added to your headache by compounding the “problem” with a trio of new 70 Series Monitors, and they are the P2070, P2370 and P2370HD. Two of these slim LCD monitors will feature a screen depth of 30mm, while the P2370HD is measured at 65.5mm. The three of them will also boast Samsung’s very own Touch of Color (ToC) design. The 70 Series of LCD monitors were meant to impart the performance capability of Samsung TVs onto the average desktop, as more and more people take up the option to view their TV shows on a computer in addition to using it for daily productivity tasks.

All three models of the 70 Series Monitors will come with a dynamic contrast ratio (50,000:1) for deep, rich colors, while the 2ms (GTG) video response time minimizes blurring for watching sports and fast-moving gameplay. The inclusion of its crystal-like bezel frame complete with ToC helps reduce the reflection of light and glare for a more comfortable viewing experience. Samsung designers also decided to make the monitor look as though it was floating in mid-air thanks to a clear, crystal-like acrylic neck.

Samsung has also integrated its very own Startlight Touch Controls in terms of the On Screen Display (OSD) buttons being merged into the bezel itself, making the entire monitor feel and look like one seamless device without any ugly obtrusive buttons on the front or sides. All it takes to activate these buttons is a single touch, where light illuminating these controls will disappear automatically after a determined period of time in order to minimize distractions while you’re engrossed in your favorite movie. There is no word on pricing or availability for all three 70 Series LCD TVs as at press time, but you’ll be pleased to know they come with a suite of eco-conscious features such as reduced energy consumption, making it sip around 33% less power to operate against standard monitors of similar size. Guess you can shortlist the Samsung 70 Series if you’re looking to upgrade your monitor in the near future.

Kingston does not only offer memory products for your computers, notebooks and mobile devices, they also include accessories to keep those said products running at optimal level by being cool. NVIDIA is once again at the forefront of computer graphics technology, with the GeForce GTX 275 being the latest video card to be released for the masses. Vinyl, you still got it. Granted, most people have their favorite tunes on their iPod, but some of the old school crowd still have their favs on the LPs. Unfortunately, turntables these days are about as rare as, well, CD players.

Yeah, basic music format is practically all digital these days, which is why devices such as the Denon DP-200USB were invented. The DP-200USB Turntable allows the user to convert their vinyl tracks into MP3s.

All you need to do is put on the disc, and insert a USB flash drive in front. Hitting the start and record buttons is all you need to do from there, and the entire album is stored on a convenient flash drive that you can plug into any PC, anywhere.

The DP-200USB includes a Trans Music Manager, which allows the user to obtain track numbers and information. Trans Music Manager detects silent spaces between tracks, and using a PC will allow the user to access the Gracenote music ID server and obtain track information.

Anti virus systems on your computer are so dull. Really they just sit there and scare off all the nasty things that like to infest your computer. That’s all well and good, but couldn’t they keep things interesting? Even just a little? Well this design puts a humorous take on keeping viruses out of your computer and holding onto your files for you. Of course they show it on a Mac and everyone knows that nothing can kill a Mac. It’s inconceivable!

Well alright, Macs might not be entirely indestructible. This odd hard drive with an anti virus program includes an IV drip bag that blinks and flashes its lights when it’s at work. Giving you a visual reminder that your anti virus is at work. Of course that also means that you have yet another gadget clogging up your USB port. This is still a concept hard drive though by Hyuh Jin Lee. If it did ever hit the market, it might be worth the extra port it uses up.

I keep going through all the dozens of reasons that this could be useful, but then I end up canceling them out for one reason or another. I thought it might be great to sit at your computer and then the flashlight would be useful for when you’re playing with cords at the back of your computer. However, I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t feel my way around it to figure things out. I’m sure that someone could find a use for this flashlight meets USB hub though.

If you are female and for some reason like to carry around a hub with you, then you’d always have a flashlight handy for various tasks. The hub conveniently tucks into the hub itself when it’s not in use. You can hold it as either a flashlight, or it flips open to be used as a reading light. One of my favorite Transformers was Ravage, one of several pet robots from Soundwave. In case you don’t know who Soundwave is, he was a Decepticon (the bad robots) who could turn into a cassette recorder. Soundwave had a bunch of tapes that he could miraculously store inside him, and Ravage could turn into some sort of demon cat.

Of course, no one uses cassettes anymore. I suppose that Soundwave’s minions could be CDs, but how are they going to transform into robots? Even if they were to morph like the T-1000, CDs are becoming an outdated medium.

I suppose in a modern world of Transformers, Soundwave would probably transform into an MP3 player, but what would his tape/minions be? How about something that could store MP3s, like a USB Flash Drive.

You have to admit, my logic makes a lot of sense. The Ravage Transformers USB Flash Drive comes with 2GB worth of storage, and is compatible with Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, and the Mac.

Oddly enough, it won’t ship until September, which is long after Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen will be in the theaters. I would have thought that this Flash Drive would be released in tandem with the would-be successful movie sequel, but I’m guessing we won’t see Ravage in it. Too bad. He would have looked neat as a CG charater.

Microsoft is back with a couple of pieces of new hardware for the computing masses - the Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 and the Wireless Mouse 5000. For starters, Microsoft is no slouch when it comes to computing hardware as one of their more memorable releases in the past would be the ergonomic keyboard that split halfway down the middle. I found it to be extremely comfortable to type all those years ago, but there is one reason that I did not find it conducive for gaming - it could not cater to my bounded keys in Quake. Well, all that is but a distant memory by now, so let’s take a closer look at both the Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 and Wireless Mouse 5000 right after the jump.

With notebook and netbook sales combined far outpacing that of the ordinary desktop, it makes perfect sense to release a product that caters to those who do plenty of traveling with their computer. Sometimes the all time best accessories for your gadgets are the most simple ones. Not everything has to be excessively complicated. Sometimes it’s enough that it just adds a little extra convenience to make your life a bit easier. Most have probably unplugged their laptop or unplugged a USB cable only to watch it drop behind your desk. Then you have the joy of digging it out and trying not to hit your head on a keyboard tray. Although this isn’t likely to appeal to the average geek, it might appeal to the very girly female and especially to young females. This cute ladybug works as a mouse and gives your computer a less boring look. After all, so often computer feature nothing but blacks and grays, which is fine, but it does get a touch monotonous. It also doesn’t have quite the cartoon-like look that the other ladybug mouse I’ve seen had. Since it’s not so cartoonish, it makes it a better prospect for women who enjoy anything with a ladybug theme.

It’s a mouse, so the specs are pretty basic, it’s thankfully an optical mouse. I have on occasion come across a novelty mouse that wasn’t optical. It connects through your USB port and since it is just a mouse it will of course work with either a PC or a Mac. It’d be a great mouse to take to work if you can get away with it.
